TIPS AND TRICKS FOR BABY LAUNDRY

Congratulations on your new bundle of joy! Have you considered how to wash your new child’s clothing? Don’t let the amount of laundry scare you into becoming buried in baby laundry. We are here to give you some helpful tips and tricks to consider when caring for their little clothes. Tips on choosing the right detergent, treating stains common with babies, and other helpful tips will help take the stress out of doing laundry.

Before You Start

Before you put your little one into all those cute new clothes, it is essential to remember that babies have very sensitive skin. You need to thoroughly wash them to remove any residues and any other potential irritants. As you begin to launder their clothes, make sure to read the care labels. Children’s sleepwear must be flame-resistant, and it is crucial to know never to use bleach on flame-resistant fabrics. Using bleach on flame-resistant clothes reduces the effectiveness of the treatment and may even ruin treated fabrics.

Choosing A Laundry Detergent

If you’re concerned that your regular detergent is too harsh for your little one, try washing a few baby items in the detergent. After your baby wears the clothing, check their skin for irritation or note whether your infant is acting uncomfortable or itchy. If your little one does have sensitive skin, the best detergents for sensitive skin have no dyes or perfumes.

Treating Baby Clothes Stains

Protein Stains

These stains include formula, breast milk, spit-up and feces. First, try soaking the stained clothes in cool water using a stain-removing product.

Urine Stains

Dilute one tablespoon of ammonia in 1 cup of water, and use it to treat the affected area. Apply the mixture to a small area first to make sure the garment is colorfast. Use a stain-removal product and launder normally.
